This car was purchase by it’s current owner in July of 2007. Prior to this purchase the major restorations / improvements included vehicle‘s engine rebuild, all rubber mouldings were replaced, a new convertible top was installed, Chrome & Polished Stainless steel wheel, door and door sill accessories were installed, new carpet interior (carpet and door / seat coverings), new tires. Detail: Classic elegance, this luxurious roadster is fun the drive and nice to own with under 72,000 miles on the 3.8L 8 cylinder engine. It comes with the rarely-used hardtop (not pictured) and new ragtop, both in great condition. It has a new CD, AM/FM player with USB and external inputs and detachable faceplate, all professionally installed. The car has been pampered and has never seen winter. The tires, exhaust, brakes and many other parts have been replaced in the last three years. The original spare tire and rim have never been taken out of the trunk. The original paint is in fine condition, with just a couple of very tiny nicks (ask, I’ll send pics). The chrome is excellent. The interior is like new except for a worn spot on the seat from the seatbelt and a small crack on the dash, very common on this car. The car is fast and handles like new, it’s solid and powerful and it’s fun. The transmission is smooth, and the engine runs cool. Call or email, I can answer any question you have. I’ve treated this car well because I thought I would own it forever. A downturn in my business forces me to sell and I’ll let it go for thousands below its NADA value.

Detail: Beautiful 1983 Mercedes 380 SL convertible in excellent condition. Used as secondary car all its life. Garage kept and very well maintained, brand new tires, very recent thorough checkup. It starts right up, and runs very well. 76K original miles. Sold with removable original hard top and convertible top. Beige exterior, brown interior, dark brown leather seats. 2 doors, automatic transmission.
Only 2 things to address on this car, and none of them are urgent!:
Very small hole in muffler (can be replaced with new custom made muffler for $1,500).
The soft top is torn in one area and although it is perfectly impermeable with the tape, it will need to eventually be changed. ($500-700)
Those 2 issues have been taken into consideration to price the car.

Detail: LOWERED PRICE-EX WIFE SAYS SELL IT!
Almost complete restoration.
3.8L V-8 rebuilt. 5,000 miles. New pistons, rings, bearings, double row timing chain, oil pump, chain guides and tensioner, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, air pump, warmup regulator, idle control valve, injectors, fuel distributor and all sensors and thermostats.
Electrical fully inspected, re-soldered where needed, plugs and sockets replace as needed, re-manufactured idle control unit, CIS control unit, climate control unit, heater mono valve and pump, new Sony AM/FM/CD player with 6 speakers, new window switches, antenna switch, rear defogger switch, interior light switch, interior lights, new battery and more.
Vacuum system fully inspected and any questionable parts replaced.
A/C compressor replaced prior to my purchasing car. Complete system inspected and new hose assembly, drier and pressure switches replaced. Interior evaporator removed, cleaned and tested. System is on 134A.
Interior seat covers replaced. Door, window, trunk and top rubber replaced. New carpet with sound deadening and padding added.
Exterior is original paint. Crackling on clear coat over engine compartment and some oxidation on trunk lid. New windshield, head light doors, fog light lenses, hood pad and cowl pad. Complete car has three coats of undercoating.
Transmission overhauled by second owner just before my purchase. I removed trans. replaced gaskets and filter, shifter safety switch, flex disk and drive shaft support bearing.
Brakes are new from master cylinder to rotors. Hoses only thing left due to condition.
New exhaust system from engine to tail pipe.
Soft top needs new canvas.
I have been over this car front to back and there is no rust.
Car originated in Florida. Second owner purchased from original owner while living in FL. Got transferred to Nashville and did very little driving with car. Garage kept. I purchased in 2004. Started dis-assembly in 2005 and got car drivable in 2010. Garage kept with cover.
